About HAACPS

Haight-Ashbury was the birthplace of psychedelic culture—an influence that has shaped the world for over 60 years and continues to do so today. Yet its iconic legacy is fading. The cultural spaces that gave birth to the movement are slowly disappearing, artists have fewer places to share their ideas, and younger generations inspired by Haight-Ashbury often feel disconnected from its rich history.

The Haight-Ashbury Arts & Culture Preservation Society (HAACPS) exists to re-establish the living spirit that began here 60 years ago. We aim to provide artists with a platform for expression, host talks with living legends, and showcase the street’s cultural history through community exhibits and events. In short, we exist to keep the spirit of Haight alive—authentic, respectful of the past, and in service to future generations.
